Just 13 Pounds Away From Love

This piece is a handmade 5’ ft by 5’ ft stretched canvas created from 1950’s-60’s magazine articles, printed out 1950’s-60’s comics, acrylic paint, gesso, pumice, recycled yarn, and ink. The inspiration for this work came from the urge to create something bigger than myself, communicate and direct awareness to the issues of sexism that were more prevalent back in the day but still linger in today’s world. This piece shows astonishing examples of just how intense sexism was in every industry in our past.

This work was created in 2024.
