Just 13 Pounds Away From Love

This piece is a 60’x 60’x 2’ Mixed Media Painting on handmade stretched canvas. It is created with 1950’s-60’s magazine articles, printed 1950’s-60’s comics, layered acrylic, gesso, pumice, recycled yarn, and ink. The inspiration for this work was to reveal direct sexism from the 1950’s-1960’s media that still penetrates society and societal standards today. This work shows where attention was directed and what was socially acceptable to put in the media- but how those standards still silently (and loudly) carry over to today's era as well.

This work was created in 2024.
